(formerly the Interfaith Community Shelter)
Thanks to everyone who donated gifts which were placed under the Christmas tree at the Interfaith Community Shelter. They were greatly appreciated by adults and children alike.
Congregation Beit Tikva will be serving dinner at the Shelter on Sunday, January 22, 2012. Please call to say that you’ll bring food and/or help with serving and cleaning up. Dozens of faith- based organizations take turns with the dinner preparations during the year.
The Shelter has undergone major renovations within the last 6 months. The building now provides more private sleeping accommodations, a better equipped kitchen and several offices to house the Santa Fe Resource Opportunity Center (SF ROC). SF ROC is a coalition of agencies serving Santa Fe’s homeless (i.e., Community Closet, Faith at Work Community Outreach, Santa Fe Community Services, Healthcare for the Homeless, LifeLink).
Don’t forget to keep your warm, used clothes coming for those at St. Elizabeth’s Shelter. They welcome all of our donations.
In the next newsletter, you’ll hear more about our exciting “in-house” program – Shabbat for Shut-Ins. We’ll also be planning an event in 2012 which will honor our own Beit Tikva seniors. Contact me at any time to express your interest in joining the Social Action Committee. We can accomplish so much more with more members.
Best to all of you in 2012!
